A year ago, around this time we shared through North Texas Giving Day that we were dreaming of adding a mobile unit service line and we asked for YOUR help. Within a few days the construction of that project was fully funded. We were blown away!
Now, less than a year later that mobile unit is finished and ready to be used throughout DFW, serving the most vulnerable in the middle of a global pandemic.
Construction
The ministry of Watermark Health is only possible because members of Watermark Community Church give of their time, talents, and treasures to make this shared vision a possibility. Most would rightfully assume that it's primarily medical professionals that deploy their professional skills on site. However, many might be surprised to learn that we've been able to see God use construction professionals - real estate agents, architects, project managers, lighting, textiles, flooring, and more - to further the mission. Since we opened our first clinic in 2013, Watermark members and other followers of Christ who work in the construction industry have generously given of their time and resources to bring our projects to fruition.
In addition to saving the ministry significant costs, this generosity has also allowed followers of Christ to be deployed in their profession.
"I love sharing about what the clinics do for the community. Many coworkers and friends ask me about the projects and it opens up a way to share the gospel. Physical needs can get met in many places...but by creating a space that is safe, inviting, and truly caring- we can also invite people into a relationship with Jesus." - Kris Hopson, Senior Project Manager, CBRE
Modeling Excellence
One of the core values of Watermark Health is Excellence. We believe that by doing things with excellence, we not only glorify God but woo others towards Him. Our facilities are often the first thing people notice about us. We are often asked "What is this place?" when people first enter our buildings. They are surprised by our well maintained, clean, and beautifully designed locations. Often times people assume that a non-profit or charity clinic will have sub-standard services or facilities because they are low cost. We love blowing that expectation out of the water.
Our clinics, including the new mobile clinic, are designed with the patient in mind. From the moment they walk through our doors we want everything we do to show them hospitality and care. Their experience with us should point them to the fact that they are made in God’s image and have innate dignity, value, and worth. See for yourself, this isn't a normal "mobile unit"!
Launching Life Change
This Sunday our team was able to share this new resource with the church body at Watermark’s Dallas Campus. This was more than just a chance to celebrate past faithfulness of the church to make the mobile possible- it was also a chance to pray for the future ways God will use this building. Our hope is that it continues to serve DFW in the same ways that our existing clinics and service lines have- caring for physical needs while also tending to the souls that we interact with.
I’m excited for Watermark Health to go mobile because not only is it a step in the right direction to remove barriers for accessible healthcare but we will also get to meet new friends in other parts of our city. - Anthony Anderson, Mobile Unit Coordinator
